CURRENT EVENTS GUIDE FOR JUNE 2017 IN BARCELONA June in Barcelona seems to be very promising not only in terms of sunny and hot weather, but also interesting and full of cultural events. Lindy-hop in The Citadel Park
Many dance fans in Barcelona are familiar with open lindy-hop lessons in The Ciutadella Park every 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month at noon. These events gave the opportunity to all guests and residents of the Catalan capital not only to learn how to dance, but also to meet a lot of interesting and awesome people from all over the world! In June, BCNSWING cultural association invites everyone to dance parties featuring a DJ. The event begins at 18:00 in the northern part of the park, next to the fountain "Cascade", a gorgeous architectural piece of art by Antonio Gaudi.

Barcelona Music Jam
Every Thursday, the cosy Craft Barcelona Club, located in the heart of the Old Town, hosts the most vibrant jam session in the city! Opera and Flamenco, "The Love Story"

Ariana Grande Concert
Ariana Grande from Florida is currently touring Europe with her 3rd studio album called "Dangerous Woman". The actress and singer released her 1st studio album "Yours Truly" in 2013 and became the first female singer who reached the top of the Billboard 200 since 2010. Since then, her career has kept going pretty well: she was awarded the Grammy in the nomination "The Best Female Performer" and "The Best Song" along with other prestigious prizes. In the repertoire of Ariana you will find pop, soul, hip-hop and electronic music. All guests and residents of the Catalan capital will have the opportunity to dance with her at the Palace of Sant Jordi on the 13th of June.

Festivals and Gourmet Fairs

Tasing Festival in Las Ramblas
From 8 to 11 June the most popular street of the city will host a food festival where everyone can taste traditional Mediterranean and Spanish cuisine at affordable prices. For example, a tasting portion of the legendary Iberian Jamon de Bellote will be available at a price of 1,5 EUR. Also, the guests of the event will have an opportunity to get acquainted with the most delicious dishes, prepared by the famous chefs. Within the four-day festival, 74 best chefs from 50 restaurants will cook the pure gourmet masterpieces.
The venue for the 4th edition of the gastronomic event, titled "Tast a la Rambla" (in Catalan "tast" means tasting), will be held at the famous boulevard, Las Ramblas. The gastronomy fair will be located right on the promenade, starting from the Santa Monica Arts Centre and up to the Columbus Monument. All guests can take a tasting tour, try different dishes accompanied by gorgeous local wine or artisan beer. In addition, as part of the food festival, gastronomic seminars are carried out at the Santa Monica Arts Center from 13:30 to 22:30.

Sardine Festival
On the 10th of June, the Barcelona Fishing Guild organizes a holiday in honour of sardines, and everyone is welcome to join! This day marks the beginning of the fishing season for sardines. You can get acquainted with the best fishermen of Barcelona and ask them all the questions you are interested in! Do not miss a chance to try the fresh fish, which they will catch early in the morning and bring to the port!

Akram Zaatari. Against photography. An annotated history of the Arab Image Foundation»
Till the end of September MACBA displays the exhibition of Lebanese photographer and film-maker Akram Zaatari, who is one of the 4 creators of the Arab Image Foundation (AIF). This organisation was founded in Beirut 20 years ago in order to archive photographic material from the Middle East, North Africa and the Arab Diaspora. At the moment there are 600,000 images from such countries as Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Mexico and Senegal. The exhibition at the MACBA reveals photographic documents, created by the artist. He reminds us that a photo can fulfil completely different roles, for example telling people’s stories, remembering important events or simply provoking positive emotions…

In My Taxi, Ryan Weidman
The exhibition "In My Taxi" presents 40 of Ryan Weidman´s most vivid photographs taken from the early 80's till the end of 2000s. The exposition reveals the world through the eyes of a taxi driver: you will see images depicting the bright and unpredictable nightlife of the city that never sleeps, New York. His models were serious businessmen and extravagant transvestites, prostitutes and poets. The artistic project demonstrates the evolution of the style and spirit of the big city. The Espronceda Center for Art and Culture invites everyone to attend the temporary exhibition of Ryan Weidman, created in collaboration with Bruce Silverstein Gallery (New York). For the first time, some of the unseen works of an American photographer will be presented to the public, including photographs taken in his improvised studio at the very beginning of his career.

David Bowie Is
The exhibition of David Bowie, which has already been visited by more than a million people in different cities, finally arrived in the Catalan capital. Exhibits that were previously represented in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London can now be seen in travelers to the Barcelona Design Museum. The exposition of the museum reveals the unique creative style and versatile talent of the British artist, who died in January, 2016. The organisers emphasize the fact that David Bowie personally participated in the project.
You will get a chance to see more than 300 exhibits, including album covers, notebooks with lyrics, fragments of scenery, photos, videos and music videos, design items and musical instruments used by Bowie onstage. Unfortunately, the musician decided not to provide his legendary saxophone, which his father gave to him when David was 13 years old. The artist made a decision to keep the exhibit in his private collection. Also, special attention is paid to the stage costumes created by the famous designer Alexander McQueen, who made many amazing pieces for the performer. The exhibition also includes fabulous jackets and other unique pieces of clothing that you can see in the walls of the Design Museum of Barcelona. All visitors will be able to trace the connection between art and design, for example, in the field of graphic design and fashion.

On Saturday, the 11the of June, 2017 The Association of Ports and Tourism of Catalonia invites all active travellers for the open day. After the success of the previous edition, this year the event will be held in more venues throughout Spain. In the morning and in the afternoon a lot of sports and entertainment events will be organized in the ports, included in the list of the participants.
